New 64-bit Game Worlds Arrive July 9th!
We are happy to share further information with you about the future of Dungeons & Dragons Online, new 64-bit game worlds, and free transfers! We have been working for some time to prepare the game for its 64-bit future by opening our 64-bit world called Cormyr and by developing new transfer technology that will facilitate transfers to new worlds. We are now ready to deploy three new worlds and provide free transfers from all of our 32-bit game worlds to these new 64-bit servers.
What’s happening:
On Wednesday, July 9th when the worlds open from our weekly maintenance, two new 64-bit game worlds will be available, with two of the new worlds located in the United States and one world located in Europe. Their names are:
US:
- Oerik
- Thrane
EU:
- Moonsea
These worlds will join our existing 64-bit US server Cormyr as our regular game worlds. Free transfers from the 32-bit game worlds to these 64-bit game worlds, including Cormyr, will be available through August 31, 2025, after which point the 32-bit game worlds will no longer be available for regular gameplay. Read further for additional information.
What you need to do:
If you have a character on any of our 32-bit game worlds, we want you to join us on a 64-bit world. Here is how the process will work:
- Prepare your character on your origin world. When ready, use the Pack function to pack up your character and related account data prior to transfer. This is extremely important! Once a Pack function is run on an origin world, you will need to Unpack your character on its destination world before running a Pack function again on that character.
- Log into the game launcher (again) and press the Transfer button. Follow the transfer process. Your character and all of its bundled information will be transferred to your world of choice.
- Log into your new game world! Once you are ready, Unpack to restore your transferred data. You should then log out of the game client and log back in to refresh your account information.
What’s been packed:
The following items will be contained within your character transfer data once the Pack function is run on an origin world:
- Astral Shards
- Guild Information (Most information goes with the guild leader, individual guild information goes with the individual member.)
- Creature Companion Stable
- Mount Stable
- Monster Manual information
- Shared Crafting Storage
- Platinum Vault Shared Storage
- Account Bank Shared Storage
The following items will NOT be contained within your character transfer data through the /transfer pack command:
- Reincarnation Cache (Note: You can transfer through the Transfer Wizard with your Reincarnation Cache intact. You do not need to place your Cache into active inventory or storage prior to transfer.)
- Auction listings, bids, winnings, or deposits of platinum or Astral Shards. Please make sure to conclude all of your auctions and claim all of your items prior to running the /transfer pack command or using the transfer interface. In the future, we will announce when the Auction Houses on our 32-bit game worlds will be closing.
- Your guild rank (other than guild leader)
- Your Daily Dice “free roll” status
What to do if you are a guild leader:
If you are a guild leader, it will be your job to get the guild to its new home. Once you run the Pack function on your guild leader character, most guild information will be bundled to your character, and you will bring it to your destination world. This includes things like your guild’s level, and guild member contributions in Astral Shards or Platinum. Once you run the Unpack function on your destination world, your guild and its information will populate on your new world! The following guild features are not transferred:
- Guild Chest contents. It is extremely important that ALL guild chests have any items removed from them that your guild wishes to save prior to the guild leader running the /transfer pack command.
- Guild airship amenity layout. You will need to replace amenities.
- Guild Airship name
- Placed guild airship cosmetics
What to do if you are a guild member:
If you are a member of your guild your membership and guild renown will be bundled to your character when you use the Pack function. Once your guild leader has established your guild on your destination world, you can run the Unpack function to restore your renown and place in the guild. If you Unpack before a guild leader Unpacks, your information will be ready for your guild leader and guild when it is created. However, you should NOT create a new guild using that character until your old guild information is Unpacked, as that may impact the retention of your now-old guild data.
Can I add to my pack?
No, but you can Pack again on a different character. Account-based storage and other account-based progress will come with the next character you run the Pack function on, and those items and progress will be added to your account information on your destination world.
Character and Guild Renames:
If your character or guild’s name is already present on your destination world, then you will receive a –1, -2, -3 or further adjustment to your name. If you experience a character rename, a free rename is available to your character. Log that character into your game world and type /changename (newname) into chat. If your guild undergoes a name change, the guild leader can change the guild name for free by using the command /guild rename (newname) in chat to rename the guild.
NOTE: A guild that is packed and moved off of an origin game world does not free up that name on its origin server! It is not possible to re-create that guild name once moved off of a world, since that name and guild information is retained on the server.
32-bit Game World Closing Information:
As part of this process we are permanently closing our existing 32-bit game worlds. Players can log into the game worlds to run the necessary commands and transfer their characters through August 31, 2025. After August 31st, the following 32-bit game worlds will not be available for regular gameplay:
- Argonnessen
- Cannith
- Ghallanda
- Khyber
- Orien
- Sarlona
- Thelanis
- Wayfinder
Our existing 64-bit world Cormyr will continue to be available.
After August 31st, our 32-bit game worlds will become temporarily unavailable for login. At a later date, we will reopen these 32-bit game worlds as “ghost worlds” for players to be able to transfer characters from for two years. Players will be able to log into these worlds to prepare their characters for transfer, but no questing or other gameplay will be possible. You’ll run the Pack function then log back to the game launcher and complete your transfer.
The timing of the reopening of these closed worlds is not yet available. All of the 32-bit worlds will close for regular gameplay after August 31, 2025, so please make sure to transfer your characters! Once this final period of transfers is available in the future, these worlds will be permanently closed and no further character transfers will be possible. We will have more information on the timing of these transfers in the future.
Additionally, we intend to offer a limited period of time where characters on a 64-bit game world can transfer for free to a different 64-bit game world. This will allow players who accidentally find themselves on the “wrong world” the ability to correct their mistake. We are not yet ready to announce when these transfers will become available. These transfers will also allow players to transfer from Cormyr to Moonsea for a limited period of time.
